I have been on Sarilumab since mid March, following a serious infection whilst I was taking MTX and a massive flare. My CRP is now rock bottom but it is taking a very long time for my joints to normalise. I'd appreciate hearing about other people's experiences.
Also, I understand how Sarilumab works blocking IL-6, but I'd really like to know how that blocking effects the working of the rest of the immune system. I've tried reading various papers but they descend into medical speak very quickly. If there is anything out there that describes this, including whether the immune system still works against infection at all, I'd really love to know.
Thanks

I’m on Sarilumab (Kevzara) fortnightly injections together with 20mgs weekly oral Methotrexate for over a year and it’s the only thing that has almost totally controlled my RA. I had previously been put on Adalimumab for four months and that had absolutely no effect on my RA.
However, I’m very sorry that I can’t explain how il-6 inhibitors work within the immune system. There seems to be only vague explanations about what happens but I’m just grateful it helps. I just wish I had been put on Kevzara sooner before having to spend a long period trying other cheaper drugs and having to use Prednisolone which I blame for causing spinal problems.
